Personal Bio

Jamie has been working as a massage therapist since 1992.   She holds certification as an instructor and practitioner from the Institute of Integral Health in Berkeley CA -The Lauren Berry Method of Corrective Massage.  Her training includes structural body work based on restoring health to the mechanics of the musculo-skeletal system, scar tissue mobilization, lymphatic drainage, and visceral manipulation.

She completed a 400 hour certification course in oncology massage with Gayle MacDonald LMT MS and Dr. Sandy Canzone DOM; both of whom are pioneers in the field of oncology massage. She works as both as a private practitioner at Providence Alaska Cancer Center and instructor through Oncology Massage Education Associates.
She works with clients in all stages of cancer treatment and post treatment. 
She holds a  BS in Natural Sciences and teaches clinincal and gross anatomy at the University of Alaska, Anchorage.  She is currently a graduate student working on fascial research through UAA.  
She has been involved with massage therapy education since 1994.  She teaches courses in Massage Therapy for People Living with Cancer, Gentle Techniques for Scar Tisssue Mobilization for the Oncology Client and The Lauren Berry Method courses in Shoulder, Knee and Lymphatic Drainage Massage. She teaches nationally and internationally.  She was a contributing writer for Massage Therapy for People Living with Cancer by Gayle MacDonald in 2007 on the topic of scar tissue release post cancer treatment. Most recently she has contributed to the article "The Healing Process: Mastectomy and Radiation-Scar and Adhesions"  in Massage Australia with Eleanor Oyston and Tania Shaw. 

She is the  past president of AMTA Alaska Chapter, a member of The American Association of Clinical Anatomists, American Association of Anatomists, Human Anatomy and Physiology Society and  the Society for Oncology Massage.
